Bintan Trip 3D2N (Day 3)

“Our Bintan Trip @ The Canopi - Day 3”

So day 3 was literally just us, staying in bed rotting after having our breakfast since it was literally RAINING HEAVILY after we were done with breakfast.

Binge watched The Flash whilst waiting for our check out timing to arrive and afterwards we literally rotted the whole afternoon away in the lounge area.

We had our lunch at their in-house restaurant and honestly it was a disappointing meal. Both of our dishes were failures and the only thing I adored was the drink that I ordered. Some strawberry smoothie mix.

Headed back home & I literally fell ill too due to indigestion from the previous days meal. Sobs.

So that's about it for our short get away at The Canopi! It was an enjoyable trip - despite the horrid meals there. Think if we were to return to Bintan, we would defo venture out to the hawkers for our meals instead. Local food is WAY better than overpriced resort meals haha.

My thoughts on this trip
Definitely a much more relaxing trip compared to the one we had last march at Bali. It was so relaxing that we legit spent so much time chatting and having fun rather than busy exploring the place that we have no time to stay still hahaha.

We had so much opportunities to snap lotsa photos too and I was legit real happy bcos we rarely snap pictures together honestly. The best thing was, the crowd was so minimal and we felt like we really had the whole resort to ourselves. My only regret was not bringing enough clothes to change for my photoshoots HAHA.

It was a short trip and can't wait for our next upcoming trip!! Hopefully we'll be able to head over to somewhere for a long trip soon. Can't wait for our next holiday together!

Bintan Trip 3D2N (Day 2)

“Our Bintan Trip @ The Canopi - Day 2”

We started our day 2 with a morning breakfast buffet that was complimentary from the resort and it was an average meal. Not a lot of choices but enough to get my tummy full. The resort would be much better definitely if they improved on their food.

Ventured out to their man-made "beach" and tried playing in the water but gave up after awhile as it was too cold brrrr. Decided to suntan for a little bit before heading to Treasure Bay to rent their eScooter. We rented their scooter for 6 hours so as to convenient us around in travelling around the resort. The resort was really quite huge. After renting it, we had a little fun time riding it all around the resort etc, switching turns in the one riding hahaha. After some time we both got a little steady and stable in it. Quite proud of myself for this achievement!! It's literally like I'm riding a motorcycle and fetching S around.

We decided to head out to the beach again after riding around a little as the sun came out a little brighter and it wasn't as cold anymore.

After chilling a little, we headed back to our room to washed up & ventured out to all the little corners of the resort to take pictures! And I'm so glad we did. We literally took so many nice photographic pictures hehe. The best part is, there isn't much people around so we literally don't have to worry about humans photobombing our pics!

We headed back to our room afterwards after all the hassle of taking pictures everywhere, setting the tripod up etc. Prepared for our firefly tour. YES we booked a firefly tour for SGD15 per pax. I wouldn't state that it's amazing or anything but it was a great experience! Even though we were out there feeding mosquitoes. But it was my first time seeing dragonflies & mangrove rainforest so it was good. Didn't manage to snip any pictures as it was too dark out and lighting might result in the dragonflies flying away so.

Headed back to our room & had our BBQ pit and BBQ food delivered to us afterwards. The BBQ food took FOREVER to cook even though the fire was hella big. The only thing I enjoyed about the whole BBQ dinner was the roasted marshmallows. I wouldn't go for it again if I returned back but I would say it was a great experience. But it was overall too pricey & the food wasn't even tasty tbh haha.

Ended our Day 2 just like that and we just chilled on bed until I literally fell asleep. We both did, even with the lights on we were snoring away hahaha.

Bintan Trip 3D2N (Day 1)

“Our Bintan Trip @ The Canopi - Day 1”

A really impromptu decision for a short getaway to somewhere near just to kickstart our new year and take a break from reality - we decided to head towards Bintan, one of the nearest island from Singapore. Whilst I was browsing through Google, we came across this blog post on "Glamping" and thats how we decided to head towards The Canopi for our short 3D2N trip.

This trip was really really plainly relaxing. No running around and exploring the island like what we did in Bali, so it turned out great! Spent most of the time in the resort and in our room, just chilling and watching dramas & gaming together. It felt really great!

First day - Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal > BBT Ferry Terminal > Check-in Resort > Hawker for Dinner > Back to Resort

We arrived at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal about 12.45pm and was slightly late as we were supposed to arrive at 12.30pm, but it was alright since the departure timing was 2pm. Looked around for some light snacks as we both didn't have anything before heading out. After having a mini Bao to prevent myself from getting sea-sick, we headed into the terminal. The wait for our ferry to arrive was god damn long, they delayed approx 1 hour of our timing. Supposingly to depart at 2pm, in the end we only got to depart at about 3.30pm. Hence, our arrival timing at BBT got delayed as well.

We only got to reach BBT Ferry Terminal at 4+pm (Bintan Time). Singapore timing is 1 hour ahead so it was already 5+pm in Singapore when we arrived there.

You can clearly see the sun setting already at the background!!

After checking in, we rotted in our room a little bit before heading out to explore the resort. We wanted to book the BBQ dinner they offer but then the cut off time for it was already over so we can only wait till tomorrow :(

Decided to head out to the nearby hawker for dinner instead by a transport arranged by our resort for SGD10 (two way transport).

No pictures unfortunately as I didn't bring my cam out! BUT IT WAS DELICIOUS and we only spent like $9 from everything we ordered. Really happy hehe.

And then we headed to the nearby mini-mart for some cup noodles and snacks since we kind of predicted that we wouldn't have much food to eat for the next 2 days there. AND the prices were mad crazy!! Don't ever get scammed buying too much from that shop thinking it'd be cheap bcos the prices of the cup noodles were even more expensive than the ones in SG.

Headed back to our Resort afterwards & had a chill night. Literally chill. Just watching shows & gaming before drifting into dreamland.

Bali Trip 5D4N (Day 5)

“Our Valentines' Day Bali Trip - Day 5”

Our fifth day - which is also our last half day that we will be spending in Bali. Checked out of the hotel and placed our luggages into our drivers car. And our only destination for the day - Uluwatu Temple!

My period came and I was feeling really restless... period cramps and sprained leg while traveling is definitely NOT a good combination.

I was so grumpy and cranky I didn't even felt like taking pictures nor walking. I really am very very very thankful to for putting up with my bullshit over the 5 days man HAHA.

Headed over for a simple lunch afterwards at a restaurant that I googled up randomly that was nearby since we were already running up of time and had to rush in for our flight.

Ate at this restaurant called the InSalt Restaurant. It didn't have much people but the food tasted really good and I really love the layout of the restaurant! It gave off a really relaxing vibe which I adore. So much better than that damn Sea Circus place.

Rushed off for our flight afterwards and back to Singapore.... Will definitely miss Bali

My thoughts on this trip
It was definitely a good trip even though there were many events that occured out of nowhere, scams, injuries, and it was definitely really packed. But first ever trip that I've planned every single day singlehandedly with S by ourselves. So I would call it a success. :)

At the same time, I felt like reassuring the rest of my life with S is definitely a stable and great choice. Upon the years that I've had dating him, he had already reassured me that. But this trip had definitely made me get an even clearer idea on it. He had really been a great partner, a great travel buddy, a great source of reliant for me during this trip. Me on the otherwise, was a total burden to him. I've heard many of my friends telling me on how whereby they are usually the ones planning and ensuring everything goes smoothly when they travel with their boyfriends. But me on the otherwise, was so darn reliant on him that I felt so bad. He was literally behaving like my guardian there. Where else can you find a guy that adores you and take cares of you like a father, acts silly with you like your Best Friend and teases you like your older brother, and of course shower you with love like your Boyfriend. DEFINITELY SAVED THE COUNTRY LAST LIFE TO DESERVE HIM. :')

So much gains and so much love received in this trip. Can't wait till our next overseas holiday!

Bali Trip 5D4N (Day 4)

“Our Valentines' Day Bali Trip - Day 4”

Our fourth day in Bali was really well spent! Had a drive down all the way to Lovina Beach and had to depart from our Hotel at 4am so as to be able to arrive at Lovina (which is at the other end of Bali from where we were staying) and managed to reach the beach at around 9 for our dolphin tour!

4:00AM: Picked up by our Driver.

I was feeling as dead as ever because I sprained my leg the previous day from trekking Mt Batur so had to carry me around LOL. He literally carried me to a fro from our Hotel room because we stayed at the second floor.

8:00AM: Reached Lovina Beach

We legit slept through the entire car ride because we were so exhausted from all the packed itineraries in the previous days. But what we woke up to.... the view was soooo good.

It was our first time standing on a black sand beach. The feeling was amazing (despite me being grumpy af because of my swollen ankle). We then hoped onto the boat that will be sailing us out to view the wild dolphins!

The sea was really clear and clean as well! You can literally see through it and see the weeds underwater. Would be really great if we came here for our snorkelling instead.

No filter pictures:

And look at that puddle of dolphins! They always swam in groups so we were able to see them quite obviously when they jumped out of the water. It was my first time seeing wild dolphins swim like this. The experience gained is definitely better than those dolphin shows hosted in zoos/aquariums etc.

It was a really satisfactory valentines day spent with S indeed. First ever valentines that was spent so uniquely in the past 7 years of our dating life hahaha.

We then headed to a Hot Spring called Hot Water Banjar nearby to chill for 30 minutes. The water there was quite greenish and it had algae everywhere inside the water but they stated that it was a natural Hot Spring whereby the water was naturally flown in through a nearby river and the water was naturally hot due to the steam from a nearby mountain. Nature ftw!

1:00PM: Reached Gitgit Waterfall

Almost got scammed here by one of the guides! They actually lied to us saying that we can only enter the place if we book a tour with him and it actually costed SGD80 for two pax!?! So we were so shocked we went back to ask our driver about it. And it turned out that it was a scam.... Bali's really filled with scammers EVERYWHERE. So I would really strongly advise people to book tour guides there instead to drive you around so as to prevent scams.

The Waterfall wasn't really all that fancy and because it was the rainy season, there was this part of Bali where the news had reported that there was a landslide. We actually witnessed it while driving past and it was really scary so we didn't spend much time there. The floor was legit fallen and broken. So drivers only had one lane left to drive for two sides. As I witnessed that, suddenly feeling blessed for staying in Singapore hahaha.

Initially S actually suggested for us to just take a detour and leave this area because it was filled with steps and slopes everywhere and I was literally crippling because of my injured ankle. But fully motivated me didn't wanted to waste this trip or the money so I persuaded him that I can do this hahaha.

And it turns out that the place wasn't really that big as well, or maybe we just couldn't really find the way properly that we only walked a small part? I have no idea hahaha.

So this was a small part of the waterfall that we saw. But I'm happy enough to have witnessed a real waterfall I guess.

2:00PM: Lunch at a local buffet restaurant

I forgot the restaurants name already but it was recommended by the tour package so we headed there to eat! It was a buffet style so we could eat however amount we wanted to eat. We invited our driver to dine with us as well since we felt that it would be a little bad for him to stay in the car by himself.

Following that, we then headed over to Tamblingan Lake which was just directy opposite the restaurant.

It was crazily packed there as they had school tours ongoing over there but still managed to take lots of pictures. Thank god for GoPro.

Of course we took many more pictures there but just picked a few to sum up what we did there! And finally we concluded our trip with a drive to Blimbing Rice Terrace.

Just took a picture of it from afar on top. We already visited several rice terraces there already and it all looks the same so.... hahaha

4:00PM: Back to Hotel! The places we went were really really far away from our Hotel so we had to take a few hours before arriving back. Tough life being a driver there lolol.

We then headed to a restaurant called Sea Circus that was quite popular there apparently and to me I was just severely disappointed at both the price and the food.... really don't get whats with the hype over that restaurant.  We decided to eat there simply because it was really near our hotel and at walkable distance. But DISAPPOINTMENT.... will never go back there to dine again if I were to go back to Bali. Didn't even take any pictures because I was just really disappointed thats all hahaha.

And that concludes our day. Next up will be day 5, which is also our final day there before departure back to Singapore. :(

Bali Trip 5D4N (Day 3)

“Our Valentines' Day Bali Trip - Day 3”

Our third day in Bali was just basically Mt Batur Trekking. You have no idea how much I regretted signing up for trekking before even basic exercise training in Singapore. I almost died up there LOL. But I can't deny that it was quite a good experience.

1:30AM: Picked up by our Driver.

Was suppose to get up at 1AM to prepare but both of us were literally so tired we couldn't even hear the alarms and we got up at 1:20AM instead LOL only had 10mins to prepare smh so bare face it is.

3:30AM: Reached the base of Mt Batur

Met our trekking tour guide and we started our climb after refreshing ourselves in the toilets etc. At the beginning I was thinking "Oh so all the roads are fixed roads like those that car can drive up etc". Nope, it was just the beginning HAHAHA. Took so many damn stops in the middle because of me HAHA gosh so embarrassing right. And we got a ridiculously young tour guide so he was legit fit and ready to go and so is S because he is practically army trained. I was the legit burden of us 3 HAHA THE FEELS.

After 2 half hours of trekking we were finally at the peak (or not so). We only managed to reach the second most top and we just decided to stop because the haze was not really going away and our tour guide kind of presumed that we wouldn't be able to see anything even if we went to the peak. And of course MOST of it was because I was really just too tired to continue on already HAHAHA.

Breakfast that was given to us: Banana sandwiches, banana, and lava boiled eggs. I ordered Hot Chocolate together as well because it was legit freezing cold up there I almost died.

So we legit climbed up for 2+ hours and could only see fog...... I WAS LEGIT PISSED OFF HAHA. My face was total black besides when we had to take photos. I was literally so tired already still tell me all the efforts I made were useless wth. So S decided to conclude this: We were between the clouds HAHAHAHA

So we saw steam as well like legit steam coming out from the rocks haha coooool reminded me that we weren't on any mountain, we were on an active volcano mountain LOL.

We then headed back down after a big hoo-ha with the monkeys that came attacking us after sunrise. One of them actually jumped on my back to try to snatch my sandwich off my hands. I got so shocked cos I was legit the first one getting attacked before all the others started making a scene with the others there. WHAT LUCK RIGHT. HAHA I carried a monkey on my back.

I was a legit burden and climbing down was harder than climbing up because the rocks were quite slippery since we went during rainy season (stupid lah never think about that fact when we booked it). Ok at least I didn't slip to death or something hahahahaha.

I depended ALOT on S and our tour guide. Like really a lot. They were legit holding my hands the whole time guiding me here and there and using their strengths to hold me when I almost slipped HAHA I'M SORRY.

After finally reaching like the first base - less rocky roads now, just little slippery tiny roads. I was like OH MY GOD FINALLY but still a far way to go before we reach the base LOL at that moment I really wanted to just roll down like IDC ANYMORE. But finally safe roads and not those 'death at any wrong step' kind of roads anymore.

And our tour guide decided to become all photography and told us to pose etc etc. HAHA PROS OF HAVING A YOUNG TOUR GUIDE. S asked his age and he was only 19?!?! Or 20? Actually I can't remember. He looked older than that actually HAHA.

The view of how far we came down YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE TOP @#$)@#*$)*@$

And finally a picture with our tour guide!! Really very thankful to him, I relied on him quite a lot, he literally gave me support mentally and physically HAHA. Like pulling me up the rocks, supporting me when I go down, guiding me where to step etc. But I can't even remember his name HAHA oops.

And whilst we were walking and walking on the roads I accidentally sprained my god damn ankle oh my god I could hear the "CRRRKKKKK" haha and I screamed. S came running and asked me what happened. When I told him I sprained my ankle his first reaction wasn't "Are you ok?" but instead "HAHAHAHAHA". Oh what do I even expect from a man that I've been dating for 7 years right? SIAN. But luckily I can still walk afterwards, just wasn't able to tilt it to certain angles and of course it hurted A LOT when I was walking.

Ok complaint about S but still he supported me when walking lah HAHA ever since the sprain I relied on him SUPER A LOT. Really very grateful for having him around, being a super reliable boyfriend to me through this whole entire trip. He had to take care of all the finances and purchasing of tickets and hotel booking and flight bookings etc while I just enjoy and complain about not having enough rest HAHA and he had to carry me around as well on steps that were too steep and etc, sorry for being such a burden to you in your life IF YOU ARE READING THIS. I love you a lot okay thank you for being the reliable boyfriend in this trip and also in my life :')

We then headed to a Hot Spring nearby (pictures with S and he had not sent me them yet -_-) to chill for an hour or so, followed by Coffee Plantation then Tegalalang Rice Terrace (again). We didn't snap any pictures at the two places after because those were places we already visited in Day 1.

3:00PM: Reached Hotel

WE WERE SO DEAD TIRED so slept a little afterwards till around 6. Then prepared and headed out for dinner. Oh if you realise - no lunch again. HAHAHAHA WE ARE LEGIT JUST SKIPPING MEALS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

8:30PM: Reached Made Bagus Cafe

Bluebird to Jimbaran Beach for Seafood. We weren't precise enough so the driver kind of sent us to the wrong location first and the food there costs like a bomb??? In the end we Ubered to another area which I was intending to go and we reached Made Bagus Cafe!! It was hell good + cheap. SEAFOOD AT ITS BEST. And did I mention it was seaside tabled so we were basically having a 'on the sand candlelit dinner'.

A little rant
While we were trying to find a transportation at Jimbaran Beach there were many private taxi drivers that were eyeing on us because we refused to get on their cab. Called in Uber and we were kind of shocked at first because several Uber drivers refused to pick us and rejected us but we finally got one. We hopped on his car when he arrived and he was really nice. And that was when one of the taxi drivers knocked on his windows and scolded him for picking us up. But fortunately nothing big happened, our Uber driver just apologised saying he wasn't aware of the zone being a 'private driver zone' and drove off. I heard many scary stories about Uber drivers getting attacked by the windows and etc after picking tourists up. Oh god scary taxi problem in Bali.

We then contacted our bluebird driver from before since he left us his number and bluebird back to our hotel. But we had to walk a distant out to the non-private-driver zone so that our bluebird driver could pick us up. I mean like come on even bluebird can't enter their zones to pick people up R U SRS???? Really hate the transportation problem in Bali..

Rested up early since our tour starts at 4am the next day.

Bali Trip 5D4N (Day 2)

“Our Valentines' Day Bali Trip - Day 2”

So to start off our Day 2, we basically hired a private tour guide/driver with Your Bali Driver and we got Gede Susila as our driver. Was pretty pleased with the service that we have gotten. Got to say that he was by far the best driver that we have gotten through the entire 5 days there.

We had him booked for the entire day so as to travel around multiple places in Ubud. USD40 for 10hours and apparently it was negotiable (by a little bit) in the conversion from USD to IDR.

We visited countless sites - Ubud Art Street,  Coffee Plantation, Elephant Cave, Gunung Kawi (Stone Temple), Holy Spring Temple, Tegalalang rice terrace, Ubud Market.

Ubud Art Street was first!! There were countless sites that made pretty vases, clothing, wood carvings and many many more. We were just so amazed at their craft works with nothing but their delicate hands and of course equipments etc. Didn't really snap much pictures because most of them were just small shop houses with preview of how they made the item and a shop. Nothing much.

Just a picture of S looking through the many wood products inside.

Next, we headed to the coffee plantation!! We were given many testers for their many different kinds of coffee/tea for free. It got me quite shocked because everything was free, free testers, free guide touring you around their coffee plantations and also free entrance as well. The free testers came with really big portions as well.

Next up was the Elephant Cave Temple. This temple requires an entrance fee and also wearing of sarongs. So this is us at the entrance of the elephant cave. The elephant cave was really small by the way HAHA.

Next up was Gunung Kawi (Stone Temple). Okay really climbed alot on this one cos it was right at the bottom so we had to climb all the way down then back up again. HAHA our driver that climbed with us was hella tired. I got to admit that I was pretty tired too.

Next up was Holy Spring Temple. It was a temple where you could rinse in their 'Holy Water' and become Holy?? We didn't though because we didn't wanna get wet.

We then headed to Tegalalang rice terrace - didn't went inside though because I got so tired and lazy so we just viewed it from on top. Didn't manage to snap any nice pictures too because there were too many constructions going on.

Finally we ended with Ubud Market last but most of the shops were closing by the time we reached there!! A little bit too late for it but oh well. Would've gotten many stuffs there if we were there a little earlier. But gotten a gelato ice cream to eat since we didn't had dinner NOR lunch haha our driver couldn't take it that he went to grab a quick meal while we were at the holy spring temple LOL.

Feeling really bad for him!!! Haha shouldn't have packed our itinerary so full and should've relaxed a little bit more. First trip to Bali though, maybe next trip we'll loosen a little bit more HAHA.

So that's the end of our day at Ubud!! Look forward to Day 3~
